ACAT wins prestigious land remedation contract
ACAT beat strong competition to win the contract to supply bioaugmentation products for a prestigious land remedation project at the DIOKI petrochemical plant at Zagreb in Croatia. DIOKI, which was founded in 1995, has a production capacity of over 250 000 t/a and is the third largest exporting business in Croatia.The land remediation project is being undertaken by Rijekatank, a supplier of specialist industrial environmental services and which is ISO 9001:2000 and ISO 14000 certified, is due for completion in 2008. Rijekatank chose to use Biostar products from ACAT because of their ability to remove the hydrocarbon pollutants that had accumulated in the soil at the Zagreb production facility over previous decades. This ability fo the highly selected bacteria in Biostar products to "break down" and remove the hydrocarbon pollutants was illustrated in the independent laboratory tests which ACAT always undertake in order to select the most effective product from their range.
"With our laboratory tests showing 70% removal of Total Petrochemical Hydrocarbons (TPH) within 18 days (equivalent to over 55000mg of THP per kg of contamined soil) I was very confident that the Biostar products we supplied to Rijekatank were going to do their job well and enable DIOKI to rapidly redevelop this part of their site at Zagreb", said Maurice Bottomley - European Sales Manager for ACATīs Environmental Technologies business.
